Glenfarclas distillery is a Speyside whisky distillery in Ballindalloch, Scotland. Glenfarclas translates as meaning valley of the green grass. The distillery is owned and run by the Grant family. The distillery has six stills which are the largest on Speyside and are heated directly by gas burners. The distillery has a production capacity of around 3.5 million litres of spirit per year. Normally four stills are used for production with two kept in reserve. The distillery has approximately 68,000 casks maturing on site, in traditional dunnage warehouses, with stock from every year from 1953 to the current year. Glenfarclas produce a traditional Highland malt with a heavy sherry influence. There is evidence that the distillery first started operations sometime before 1791. The distillery was first granted a licence in 1836 when it was run by Robert Hay. On 8 June 1865 it was bought by John Grant and is still owned and run by his descendants, making it truly independent. The Grants formed a partnership with Pattisons Ltd in August 1896 at the height of the whisky boom. Following the crash that followed the Grants resumed full ownership of the distillery. John L.S. Grant, who joined Glenfarclas in 1973, is the current Chairman. His son George S. Grant is Director of Sales. The company was named Distiller of the Year by Whisky Magazine in 2006. Since 2006 Glenfarclas has been distributed in the UK by Pol Roger Ltd. In 2008 the company began sponsoring horseracing with the Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase at Cheltenham. In 2011, the 40-year-old 46% vol. expression was named "Scotch Whisky Single Malt of the Year" in the 17th Annual Malt Advocate Whisky Awards

Glenfarclas is produced in the following proprietary bottlings:

8-year-old 40% vol. 10-year-old 40% vol. 12-year-old 43% vol. 15-year-old 46% vol. 17-year-old 43% vol. 18-year-old 43% vol. - Travel Retail Exclusive 21-year-old 43% vol. 25-year-old 43% vol. 30-year-old 43% vol. 40-year-old 46% vol. 105 (Cask Strength) 60% vol. In 2007 Glenfarclas launched The Family Casks, a collection of 43 single cask bottlings, with one from every year from 1952 to 1994. This collection now extends to 2001, but the distillery no longer has stock of casks from 1952 and 1953. In January 2011 Glenfarclas released a limited edition bottling to mark the distillery's 175th anniversary.
In June 2015, Glenfarclas released another limited edition bottling called the £511.19s.0d Family Reserve. This was launched to mark 150 years of the Grant Family owning the distillery. The name of this bottling references the price John Grant paid for the distillery in 1865. The bottle is sold with a copy of the original bill of sale for the distillery.

Glenfiddich

Glenfiddich (Valle de los ciervos en gaélico) es una destilería de whisky escocés de malta situada en Dufftown, Escocia, en la región de Speyside. Pertenece a William Grant & Sons

Bottle , Glenfiddich 12, botella

Royal Lochnagar

Royal Lochnagar distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery based on the Abergeldie Estate on Royal Deeside, in the Highland whisky producing area of Scotland. It is close to the mountain Lochnagar.

Royal Lochnagar 12 Years

The first Lochnagar distillery was burnt down in suspicious circumstances in 1824 and a replacement again burnt down in 1841. In 1845 John Begg built the "new" Lochnagar.
The distillery was awarded its Royal Warrant in 1848 when John Begg invited Prince Albert to visit the distillery from the nearby Balmoral Castle, the Queen’s residence in the Highlands. The next day the distillery was visited by Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and their children.
Today Royal Lochnagar is owned by Diageo, and the distillery produces a relatively small amount of whisky, most of which is used in Johnnie Walker black and blue label.

Brander's Guide to Scotch Whisky Whiskey

The Making Of Scotland: A Comprehensive Guide To The Growth Of Its Cities, Towns And Villages

Vat69

Vat 69 is a Scotch blended whisky created by William Sanderson & Son Limited of South Queensferry, Scotland, now part of Diageo.

Vat69

Vat 69 - Blended Scotch Whisky - 700 ml

William Sanderson was born in Leith, Scotland January 27, 1839. He started an apprenticeship with wine and spirituous liquors producer Matthew Buchan at the age of 13. By 1863, he already owned his own business producing liqueurs and whisky blends. In 1880, his son William Mark joined the business and persuaded his father to bottle various blends of whisky.
The iconic Vat 69 bottle with its bulbous neck was introduced to the market and was not changed for the next hundred years. In 1882, William Sanderson prepared one hundred casks of blended whisky and hired a panel of experts to taste them.
The batch from the cask (or “vat”) with number 69 was judged to be the best, and this provided the whisky's brand name. The whisky was at first bottled in port bottles. In 1884, Sanderson bought the Glen Garioch distillery which was situated in the middle of a barley field. The distillery was meant to ensure the delivery of grain whisky.
Sanderson took care that there were always new products to be blended, because DCL, which was a strong society at that time, controlled such a large amount of the production that it had a huge influence on the supply of the competing company. For this reason Sanderson, together with Usher and Bell, founded a company to produce grain whisky, which still exists today as the North British Distillery. Sanderson sourced a few malt whiskies used to blend VAT 69 from a friend, John Begg, who owned the Royal Lochnagar distillery. When Begg died, Sanderson became director of Begg's distillery. In 1933, Sanderson's company merged with Booth's Distilleries, which merged again with the DCL-Group in 1935.
In autumn 1980, "Vat 69 Reserve" from the House of Sanderson had its world première in England.
Despite its name, it is not a vatted malt, but a blend of about 40 malt and grain whiskies. Vat 69 Reserve carries no standard age statement because of the combination of the malts and grains.

Vat 69 is also referenced in Bartender, a manga by Araki Joh and Kenji Nagatomo.
